The "Women Strong Tomorrows in STEM"
project, which aims for women's participation in the fields of Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), received a grant of 60,000
Euros from the Turkish National Agency. This initiative aims to eliminate
prejudices and empower female students, promote a more inclusive STEM community
and contribute to the country's economic growth.
At the heart of the project is the development
of the "STEM4GIRLS" mobile application, meticulously designed to
address the unique needs and concerns of young individuals facing obstacles in
pursuing STEM education. This innovative app seeks to bridge the gap by
enhancing interaction between female students and accomplished women
professionals in STEM, providing a platform for mentorship and support.
To amplify the impact of the project, an
international festival will be organized, drawing participants from partner
countries. This festival not only serves as a platform to showcase the
STEM4GIRLS app but also aims to create a vibrant space for cross-cultural
collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Complementing this effort, seminars
will be conducted in key cities such as Ankara, Elazığ, and İzmir, introducing
the STEM4GIRLS application to a wider audience.
Foreseeing a transformative influence, the
project endeavors to embolden female students interested in STEM, dismantling
societal barriers and dispelling fears associated with these fields.
Additionally, by encouraging women who have received STEM education but are
currently pursuing non-STEM careers, the initiative aims to prevent the loss of
a valuable and skilled workforce. The national agency's approval of a €60,000
budget underscores the significance of the STEM4GIRLS project in forging a more
equitable and promising future for women in STEM.
